Harry Bertoia Dandelion
Harry was born March 10, 1915 and died November 6, 1978. This sculpture was made as a piece of exotic furniture by Harry. Harry originally made 7 Dandelions but only one ended up in the Milwaukee Art Museum. These Dandelions had gold tips on the ends making them all the more valuable. The name of this sculpture is Dandelion, and Harry made it to be a piece of furniture. Harry was a designer back in his day always making very exotic delicate sculptures to bring together the room you put it in. Harry had a unique sense of style always making some of the most expensive art pieces of his lifetime. This piece of art really touched me because when I look at it I see a very bright sculpture almost like a sun that is brightening our lives and making everything better. It seems like the brightness of the yellowish gold is leading the way to having a great life. Also this sadly reminds me of just one lonely dandelion that is stranded away from where the others are. It reminds me to take in and appreciate everything because you won’t know how much you appreciate them until you lose them.
